Parenting Children with ADHD - Junee

This 4 week course developed specifically for parents/carers managing children with ADHD.

Topics in the course include:
• What is ADHD?
• How does ADHD affect family life?
• Creating better routines & relationships
• Using rewards & consequences
• Managing difficult behaviour
• Working with schools
• Building self-esteem
• Family problem-solving

The course is suitable for parents carers, grandparents and community members. 
Recommended for parents of primary/early high school aged children, but all are welcome.
The goal of this course is to inform and empower parents to work together with their child to cope with the  many difficulties of ADHD by passing on practical, workable strategies that will make a difference in the lives of all family members. 
An environment conducive to the engagement of parents through non-judgment, empathy and acceptance is a priority. Plenty of time will be allowed to discuss the home practice exercises to encourage parents to support each other in putting these ideas into practice and celebrate their successes.
An important goal of this course is to foster solidarity and support amongst the participants whereby they share and discuss their parenting experiences. This in turn can lead to lasting friendships, which offer parents the hope of ongoing support on their parenting journey.

INSTEP PROGRAM -For Parents And Step Parents In A Step Family Or Blended Family

Centacare recognises that blended and step families can experience unique circumstances which can be unique to traditional families. Centacare provides a research based marriage and family life education program for couples and children who have formed or are forming step families, recognising the often intricate, layered and reciprocal nature of relationships within step families.

his Instep Program consists of 6 sessions for couples and is designed to

  • Strengthen the couple relationship
  • Improve knowledge of “normal” step family development and functioning
  • Improve knowledge of successful step-parenting strategies and the role biological parents play in healthy stepparent-stepchild relationships
  • Improve knowledge of child development and positive parenting skills
  • Improve knowledge of legal and financial issues in stepfamilies
  • Enhance skills for negotiating shared meaning of expectations and family roles
  • Enhance understanding of children’s needs in post separation

Program delivery:
The program is delivered by a specialised accredited step family counsellor
When: Every Monday for 6 weeks starting from 14th August 2017

Triple P Positive Parenting Program - Junee

“Kids don’t come with an instruction manual!”

Whether you’re a mum, dad, single parent, step-parent or carer, the Triple P positive
parenting program can help you with a specific problem, or provide tips on parenting
and help with understanding your child’s development and behaviour.
The Triple P positive parenting program is for parents with children aged 3–12 years. 
The program gives you the tools to:
Encourage behaviour you like from your child
Deal positively and consistently with problem behaviour
Take the stress out of parenting
Triple P can also help to develop family relationships assisting children
to reach their full potential.

Workbooks will be available for purchase.
Developed by the University of Queensland Parent and Family Support Centre, Triple P parent groups have helped families in Australia and throughout the world for more than 30 years.

members to have a greater awareness of child abuse, neglect and it’s effects.
It assists families to develop a variety of tools and skills to help protect, and create a safe environment, for children and young people.

Keeping Children Safe discusses child protection in the context of the Children and Young
Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.
