Bringing Up Great Kids - Leeton

This program is designed to promote positive, respectful parent/child relationships by helping you:

  • Learn more about the origins of your own parenting style and how it can be more effective;
  • Identify the important messages you want to convey to your children and how to achieve this;
  • Understand the messages that children communicate to their parents and carers and how they do this;
  • Discover how to overcome some of the obstacles that are getting in the way of being the kind of parent you would like to be;
  • Learn about the importance of building self-esteem in children;
  • Discover ways to take care of yourself and to find support when you need it; and
  • Develop strategies to manage your parenting approach despite the mounting pressures on your time and role.

Keeping Kids in Mind (KKIM) Griffith

Keeping Kids in Mind’ is a course for separated parents who are experiencing ongoing conflict.
Parents love their children and want the best for them. However, after separation, parenting often gets much tougher. 
The course aims to help separated parents get along better for the sake of their children.

Major studies have shown that when separated parents continue to fight the risks of poor outcomes increases for their children (low self-esteem, mental health issues, low academic achievement etc).

This 5 session course is designed to:
Assist parents to see through their children’s eyes the experience of parental separation.
Develop greater understanding about how to support children following family separation.

Triple P Positive Parenting Program - Junee

“Kids don’t come with an instruction manual!”

Whether you’re a mum, dad, single parent, step-parent or carer, the Triple P positive
parenting program can help you with a specific problem, or provide tips on parenting
and help with understanding your child’s development and behaviour.
The Triple P positive parenting program is for parents with children aged 3–12 years. 
The program gives you the tools to:
Encourage behaviour you like from your child
Deal positively and consistently with problem behaviour
Take the stress out of parenting
Triple P can also help to develop family relationships assisting children
to reach their full potential.

Workbooks will be available for purchase.
Developed by the University of Queensland Parent and Family Support Centre, Triple P parent groups have helped families in Australia and throughout the world for more than 30 years.

Keeping Children Safe - Junee

A PROGRAM FOR PARENTS & CARE GIVERS

A five-session community group program aiming to assist parents, carers and community
members to have a greater awareness of child abuse, neglect and it’s effects.
It assists families to develop a variety of tools and skills to help protect, and create a safe environment, for children and young people.

Keeping Children Safe discusses child protection in the context of the Children and Young
Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.

Where: Junee Community Centre, 12 Belmore Street, Junee
When : Monday 1,8,15,22,29 May 2017 ( 5 weeks)

INSTEP Program

Centacare recognises that blended and stepfamilies can experience unique circumstances which can be unique to traditional families. Centacare provides a research based marriage and family life education program for couples and children who have formed or are forming stepfamilies, recognising the often intricate, layered and reciprocal nature of relationships within stepfamilies.


This Instep Program consists of 6 sessions for couples and is designed to

  • Strengthen the couple relationship
  • Improve knowledge of “normal” stepfamily development and functioning
  • Improve knowledge of successful step-parenting strategies and the role biological parents play in healthy stepparent-stepchild relationships
  • Improve knowledge of child development and positive parenting skills
  • Improve knowledge of legal and financial issues in stepfamilies
  • Enhance skills for negotiating shared meaning of expectations and family roles
  • Enhance understanding of children’s needs in post separation

Program delivery:
The program is delivered by a specialised accredited stepfamily counsellor
When: Every Monday for 6 weeks starting from 20th March 2017
Time: 6pm -8pm
Where: St Michaels Parish, Johnston St Wagga Wagga (opposite, St Michaels Cathedral)
Registration and payment is due by the 13th March 2017
$60 per person
$30 per person - concession
