Albury Wodonga Football Association Mental Health Round
Thank you to Liam, Alan & Marty for AWFA Mental Health Round by including Centacare South West NSW, a huge thank you to Bethany, from Centacare for attending on the day.
I would like to thank everyone across all teams for making yesterday such huge success! Together, we continued the conversation and were able to help raise awareness for mental health!
Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather. I would especially like to thank everyone that still went along to a game despite the freezing and wet conditions. It is almost symbolic of mental health illnesses. It is a rough ride for what seems forever, but there is always sunshine at the end of the day.
At Jelbart Park, I would like to thank everyone who made it such a wonderful day out, in particular Alan Taylor, Sue Rixon, Marty Chambers, Matt Hogan and Sonya Ballerini, who without their help, the day wouldn't have gone ahead.
I would like to thank all the organisations who came along to help promote their service, headspace Albury Wodonga, CentaCare Albury, YES Unlimited and Mind Australia. Despite the horrid conditions, you braved the weather. Thank you!
Also a special thank you to headspace Albury Wodonga, who donated all the socks for the Senior Ladies and Senior Men teams. They looked so good!
Congratulations to the raffle winners!
From all accounts, the AUSC Shirt Auction at their major sponsor The Star Bar went exceptionally well with their guest speaker Bethany from CentaCare Albury. At the Springdale Heights Tavern, Betty Payne spoke magnificently around our local mental health services, how to access them and what services are available.
We will come back to you soon with total amount of money raised!
Finally, a huge thank you to the AWFA for supporting this important issue and helping starting to normalise the issue of talking about our mental health by encouraging all clubs to participate. May it continue into the future!
