Great News Story!
Ahmad Ali Zada came to Griffith in 2013 as a UN Refugee from Afghanistan. Ahmad’s dream was always to open a restaurant in Australia and this has taken him 3 years. This was a joint project with Ahmad by Centacare (SGP/Complex Case), Riverina Business Enterprise Centre and Thrive Refugee Enterprise. Ahmad opened his Restaurant “Afghan Friendship Restaurant” in Griffith last Sunday, 18/2/18 by having a lunch for his local community. Ahmad has had to overcome language difficulties and is now also able to read and write in English. Ahmad has the support of his wife, Shamsia who is also very hard working and they have 3 lovely children.
He has the standard kebabs but also has Afghan foods for people to try.
If you’re in Griffith and you have time, drop in and visit his restaurant!
